BOARD MEMBERS

Larry T. Smith, Chairman

Larry Smith and his wife, Margie, live in Orange County and have four children and thirteen grandchildren.  He is the President and CEO of MHI Real Co. He has served on the board of directors of numerous philanthropic and political organizations including the Family Research Council, Toward Tradition, and the Family, Faith, and Freedom Foundation. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Orange County Family Impact Council and Chairman of The Family Action PAC. He also serves on the Board of the Institute for Families and Taxpayers and FRC Action. He has served as California and National Finance Co-Chairman of the Bauer for President Campaign and is currently a member of the Central Committee of the California Republican Party.

Kim Bengard

Kim Bengard lives in Orange County, CA with her husband of 33 years. She is a mother of four adult children and grandmother of four boys. She currently serves on the Family Research Council Board and on The Family Action PAC Board as Co-Chair of Membership. Along with her husband Tom, she co-founded the "It Takes a Family Foundation" in 1996. Mrs. Bengard has served on and supported Proposition 22, the California Restoration Project for Pastors, as well as several other pro-family and pro-life causes. She was Co-Owner of Trim Master Inc. and along with her husband was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995.

Tom Bengard

Tom Bengard lives in Orange County, CA with his wife of 33 years. He is a father of four adult children and grandfather of four boys. He currently serves on the Family Action PAC Board as part of the Membership committee. Along with his wife Kim, he co-founded the "It Takes a Family Foundation" in 1996. Mr. Bengard has supported many pro-life and pro-family causes. He was the Co-Owner of Trim Master Inc. and along with his wife was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995. He is now the owner of Bengard Manufacturing group.

Mark W. Bucher, Esq.

Mark Bucher has been actively involved in politics since the 1993 Proposition 174 School Choice Campaign, when he acted as the Volunteer Coordinator for Orange County. During that campaign, his observations of the power and influence of the unions in our state led him to found the Education Alliance, a group dedicated to assisting school board candidates who are independent of education unions, as well as authoring, qualifying, and chairing Proposition 226, which would have required unions to receive permission to use their members' dues for political purposes. Mark also oversaw the qualification of Proposition 22, the Defense of Marriage Initiative, as well as Proposition 38, a school choice initiative. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the Orange County Republican Party. Mark obtained his undergraduate degree in mathematics from Biola University and his Juris Doctorate from Western State University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, first in his class, and with the additional honor of Valedictorian. Mark has three children and lives in Tustin.

Jim Palmer

Jim Palmer lives in the City of Tustin with his four children and serves as President of the Orange County Rescue Mission, OC Housing Commissioner, City Council Member for the City of Tustin, and United States Senate confirmed Presidential Appointee to The Corporation for National and Community Service. On The Family Action PAC Board Jim serves as our Technology and Organizational Support person.

Jim Righeimer

Jim Righeimer is one of the Co-Founders of the Family Action PAC. Additionally, Jim serves as a Councilman for the City of Costa Mesa, the Chairman of the Orange County Housing Commission, the City of Costa Mesa Planning Commission, the Orange County Airport Land Use Commissioner, the Campaign Chairman for Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and the Co- Author of Prop 226 "Paycheck Protection." Jim lives with his wife Lene and their three daughters in the Mesa Verde area of Costa Mesa.

Linda Shown

Linda Shown, a Family Action PAC founding and current Board Member, lives in San Juan Capistrano. She has been married for over 30 years to her husband, Ted, and has three grown daughters and four grandchildren. Before becoming a full time homemaker, Linda was a speech therapist in Houston, Texas where she also served in the Navy Reserves for a year. Since then, she has been active in local campaigns and initiatives. She is a past South Orange County Republican Assembly Board Member and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Logistics Unlimited, Inc.

Ted Shown

Ted Shown, a Family Action PAC founding and current Board Member, lives in San Juan Capistrano. He has been married for over 30 years to his wife, Linda, and has three grown daughters and four grandchildren. He is the CEO and President of Logistics Unlimited, Inc. Previously, he has served as Chairman of the Mission Viejo Economic Development Commission and was on the board of Capistrano Valley Christian Schools. Ted now serves on the boards of Gateways to Better Education and Premiere Christian Education Group. He is retired from the Navy with the rank of Commander.

Doug Swardstrom

Doug Swardstrom has been involved with numerous causes over the years.
As one of the co-founders of the Family Action PAC, he currently serves on the Board as Co-Chairman of the Candidates and Initiatives Committee. Doug lives in Orange County with his wife and three children.

Kay Weymouth

Kay Weymouth and her husband, Jim, have been married for 35 years and have three children. Kay currently serves on the Board of the Family Action Pac and the Orange County Family Impact Council. She is Chair of the FAPAC Events Committee where she is responsible for planning and coordinating all events. She was the Executive Director of the Republican Party of Orange County from 2005 to 2006. She has also worked on several local, state, and national campaigns and in 1994 ran for the Tustin Unified School District Board of Trustees.
